How to Play

Learn the rules of Chain Reaction and sharpen your word skills!

Each game begins with a randomly selected starting word. For Word of the Day, everyone gets the same starting word.

Example: If the starting word is "apple", you'll see this word displayed prominently on the screen.

Look at the last letter of the displayed word. Your task is to enter a valid word that begins with this letter.

Example: The last letter of "apple" is "e". You might enter "elephant" as your next word.

You have a limited time (usually 10 seconds, but it varies by game mode) to enter each word. If the timer runs out, the game ends.

Example: In Standard mode, after entering "elephant", you'll have 10 seconds to enter a word beginning with "t".

Continue entering words following the same pattern. Each valid word adds to your score and resets the timer.

Chain Example:

Your score is calculated based on the length of each word and the total number of words in your chain.

Scoring: Each word earns you points equal to the word's length multiplied by 10. Longer words = higher scores!

Tips & Strategies

Try to choose words that end with common letters like 'e', 's', or 'n', which give you more options for your next word.

Since scoring is based on word length, using longer words will significantly increase your score.

Don't panic when the timer gets low. Sometimes it's better to use a shorter word than to run out of time thinking of a perfect one.

The more words you know, the easier the game becomes. Consider learning uncommon words that start with difficult letters like 'q', 'x', or 'z'.
